About me
Chana Rothman is a singer/songwriter, Jewish and music educator based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Chana is often commissioned to write the annual Cornerstone song, with recent bops including "Mah Rabu" and "Grow" as well as classics like "Simplify" and "Ayeka." Chana has taught music at Jewish, public, and independent schools in Toronto, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Philadelphia. She has been a songleader and visiting artist at Jewish summer camps in many movements: BBYO, URJ, JCC, NFTY in Israel, and locally at Ramah Day Camp Philly. Chana has been a featured performer at Songleader Boot Camp, Limmud UK and Limmud South Africa. She has worked with RituaLab, Storahtelling and Philly Fringe Festival to provide arts-based ritual in Jewish communities. Fun facts: She trekked through the Himalayas in Nepal with a guitar strapped to her backpack. This year Chana will be releasing her fourth album of original music in English and Hebrew entitled Mother of Creation and is teaching at Jack M Barrack Hebrew Academy outside Philadelphia to build up the music program. She enjoys time in the woods, baking with her teenage son, and making bead jewelery.
