About me
Tony J. Westbrook, Jr. is an award-winning Jewish educator, activist, and community leader with an infectious passion for justice and Jewish life. Based in Los Angeles, Tony has spent his career bridging Jewish values with social justice, leading everything from national service-learning initiatives with Repair the World to immersive experiences at Hillel and Capital Camps.
Mistaken for a rabbi for years, Tony finally took the leap and is now in his first year at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies! His expertise in racial justice and equity has led him to train organizations like BBYO, Base Hillel, Hillel International, and The Wexner Foundation, as well as to guide Jewish travel programs for Camp Havaya, Honeymoon Israel, and Kivunim.
A graduate of Fontbonne University with a B.A. in Communication Studies, Tony also studied Judaic Studies and Experiential Jewish Education at the Pardes Institute in Jerusalem. In 2021, he was awarded the Covenant Foundation's prestigious Pomegranate Prize, recognizing his impact as a rising leader in Jewish education. He recently graduated from the MA Institute for Jewish Experiential Education's Senior Educators Cohort 7. Tony brings his insights to social media too, sharing innovative Torah on Instagram and TikTok. When he's not teaching, he's either reading or cooking up a delicious meal from scratch!
