About me
Mara Berde spent 15 summers working Jewish overnight camps as counselor, lifeguard, waterfront director, ultimate frisbee specialist, unit head, Jewish program director, and associate director. She credits camp for teaching her everything she knows, including how to be a great supervisor, how to run an awesome meeting, and how to build inclusive communities.
Mara currently works as the Director of People & Culture for the New Israel Fund, an organization committed to human rights and democracy in Israel. She oversees hiring, training, and creates many color-coded spreadsheets in an effort to support her colleagues and their important work. Mara has a Masters Degree in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) and undergraduate degrees from Columbia University and JTS. An enthusiast of all things outdoors, Mara lives in Colorado with her wife and spends all of her free time exploring the mountains - by bike, skis, or on foot.
