About me
Aki Yonekawa is a Jewish educator who lives mostly in Massachusetts, sometimes in California, and all the time in a state of wonder. She grew up going to the Wilshire Blvd. Temple Camps and worked at Camp JCA Shalom and Camp Alonim. Her current camp gig is a program for 20-29 year-olds called Brandeis Camp Institute that you should totally think about doing when you are ready to take a break from your camp. Her current professional interests revolve around creative ritual, group singing, and mikveh, the Jewish practice of full-body immersion in water to mark life transitions. She likes to learn and teach very old Jewish texts and is always working toward improving her Hebrew skills to make it all make more sense. She is fond of literally stopping to smell the roses which makes her either delightful or maddening to walk with.
